About the Artwork
“This is a drawing of me, inspired by the children’s board game Operation. I experienced panic attacks for the first time while living in Tokyo, but they have subsided since I moved back to the US. I drew this to process what I was experiencing and to commit to a plan of stress reduction and healing.”
Judi Mae “JM” Huck is an emerging poet and teaching artist currently based in Las Vegas. She is the poet laureate coordinator for Clark County and also teaches creative writing through the literary arts group We Write. She holds a degree in economics from Agnes Scott College and a certificate in museum studies. Previously, she taught English abroad in Japan and worked for five years for the American Thoracic Society and the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners in New York, where she had the pleasure of taking workshops in the Division of Narrative Medicine at Columbia University.
