About the Artwork

“Parkinson’s disease is a struggle and sometimes people, including health professionals, seem to carry a dismissive, pessimistic attitude that I find frustrating. This picture says, ‘Yes, it’s hard, but I am still here and still fighting.’ “

Tim Roberts lives near a wild beach in New Zealand. When he was fifty, Parkinson’s disease (PD) arrived, and his life changed. He discovered that he carries a huge, smoldering, appetite for life and is hungry for inspiration and opportunities to create and experiments with drawing, painting, graffiti, ephemeral art, decorating and painting driftwood and writing poetry, especially short form poetry and haiga. He says, “The irony is that PD has helped me become more of the person I wanted to be.”
