About the Artwork
The Caribbean domino players sit in Maida Hill Market Square in West London. They are lively and sometimes noisy. They drink a tot of rum, smoke a little weed, laugh a lot and slam down the dominoes. The domino players bring the cultural delights, skills, history, landscape, vigor and intelligence of the Islands to decorate and enhance London’s cultural, ethical, intellectual and spiritual vibration.
Richard Heley is an artist (paintings and drawings), international performance poet, UK poetry slam champion, story writer and songwriter. He has painted more than sixty interactive paintings with children in the UK, USA, Australia and South Africa. He has been painting live as performance since the 1980s, setting up boards behind bands and songwriters, on club dance floors and in schools, festivals and galleries.

So much of a present story and past history captured in one glowing image. Youth and age, West Indies and West London, seeds of flowers and ganja weed. Hear the slap of tiles, but imagine the trumpet of the elephant. Oh, Domino!
