About the Artwork
“This photo, altered in Photoshop Express, started as a selfie of me wearing my purple ice hat and noise-cancelling headphones with a TENS unit stuck on my forehead. I wanted to depict the intensity of all stimuli during a migraine, coupled with the isolation of chronic illness.”
When she’s not down with a migraine, Julie Bloss Kelsey enjoys writing poetry and crafting. She is a board member of The Haiku Foundation and runs Seneca Creek Crafts, a tiny Etsy shop of miniwreaths. “I live in suburban Maryland with my husband, kids, a miniature dachshund and four fish.”

I can feel this keenly… it brings back migraine memories. Well done, Julie.
Thank you, Barbara.
That amazing Julie. It shows the intensity of a migraine.
Thanks, Karen!
