And so, over the winter of 2020-21, I wrangled a job with the Department of Health (DOH), where I witnessed the full scope of an inefficient and ill-prepared healthcare system, with stark health inequities and political, cultural and social disorganization that exist throughout the US–a situation that no amount of heroism, compassion or pragmatism could assuage.”
