It was a humid day.

I was in the OR seeing patients.

X came inside. I kindly greeted them and asked what their complaint was.

X complained of swelling in the groin. The swelling had been there for almost seven years.Recently it had caused pain and was interfering with the patient’s routine. I thoroughly examined X and reported to my attending.

Ever since my freshman year in med school, I’d dreamed of being a surgeon.

Yes, surgeons face long working hours, time away from family, and a challenging work environment. But I see surgeons as invincible. To be a surgeon, you must forgo anything that makes you feel vulnerable.
