The End of Mobility

About the Artwork

“In my life supporting my chronically ill partner, we often hit infrastructure that either ignores people with mobility challenges or doesn’t understand their needs. This fountain-pen-and-ink watercolor of an abandoned wheelchair depicts our feelings of defeat when we reach a point in the path where we just can’t go any further.”

Frithjof Petscheleit learned technical drawing during his training as a pipe-organ builder, but didn’t pursue it. “I discovered art during the pandemic, when our lives paused. I’m a member of the Okanagan Urban Sketchers and often draw inspiration from Inktober prompts on Instagram.”
