About the Artwork
“The burning desire for lifelong learning guides a physician’s career path. On the journey, each trainee has the potential to burn out. My own internal fire was burning out during my medical school training. Even so, I can appreciate that the collapsing embers still emit heat, which means that there is still some fire within. Stoking that fire inspires me to keep going and become a more compassionate physician.”
Official title: fourth-year medical student (eighth-year MD-PhD trainee) at the University of Minnesota. Unofficial title: adventurous amateur photographer.
