About the Artwork
“This photo was taken last week, during a video chat with my husband, Lunan. During many of our calls, Lunan tries on one of his masks. This is a mask that his parents brought him, due to concerns about his being able to get proper PPE or N95 masks in the hospital. He was trying on this mask to see how long he could tolerate it, and whether patients could understand him when he speaks while wearing it. The mask definitely muffles speech: It’s very difficult to understand anything that’s being said through it.”
