Note to reader: The following is a verbatim transcription of what I posted to my blog the night we got the call from the liver team that they’d found a viable donor for my 11-year-old daughter who, at the time, had a 24 cm tumor which spread from her portal vein to her liver.
I just got a call from someone on the liver team. A cadaver donor offer has come in and been approved by the transplant surgeon as “perfect” for Ana. All I know is that the donor is a young man from the NYC area. My heart aches for him as much as it soars for Ana. There’s no other way to put it. I’m breaking in half. We’re scrambling to get everything together and get out the door. We’ll likely spend the night in the ER and if all is cleared, she will be in surgery tomorrow. She’s been sick all week – we don’t know if her fever will compromise the transplant. This still might not happen, but please..PRAY! PRAY! PRAY!
I will post updates when I can. Love to you all
Here we go…

So amazing. I have an autoimmune disorder PSC which progressed to the point of needing a transplant. It is so hard to describe that feeling, hope for yourself, your life and your family yet so much grief for the donor. Thanks for sharing! I hope Ana is doing well! I just celebrated 5 years on 11/11/11!
