About the Artwork
“I struggle to find a place for grief I feel, and a context for it, thus the historical map in the background. For some time I have felt drawn to taking photos of dying flowers. Somehow these tulips and their purple color, and the map in the background, fit together for me. They formed a still life of the grief I feel.”
Gregory Mahr is a psychiatrist and writer living in Detroit.
