1 thought on “insurance card, please”
This haiku captures the emotions and thoughts I experience when I seek medical attention. Instead of who can help diagnose or relieve my symptoms, my first thought is, are they in-network? (And is this online network listing up-to-date?) And if not, can I afford the cost?
The flow chart of options always start with financial access whether the issue is urgent care, emergency care, hospital or outpatient care. Providers do care about you but there is an inherent transactional relationship that cannot be ignored in the fragmented U.S. health care system.
