About the Artwork
“This artwork, an illustration of several bay leaves, is a companion piece to a poem titled 78. The poem and illustration represent my grandmother on her seventy-eighth birthday and make reference to the changes of her body as she ages.”
Crystal Letters is a multidisciplinary and mixed-media performance artist, poet, painter, freelance writer, editor and social-media marketer. She was born and raised in Jersey City, NJ, and is the author and creator of Crystal Letters (CL), and the co-founder and co-producer of OpenRoad Poetry (ORP), an artistic partnership between CL and RescuePoetix. CL and ORP have collaborated with arts nonprofit organizations and artists across the Tri-State area, nationally and internationally. Her work is inspired by nature, color and the utilization of practical craft through visual and written art forms.
