About the Artwork
“The subject of this photo allowed me to step into another world, far from my illness and everyday reality. To me, the contrast between the stark world beneath the surface of the water and the subtle and lyrical play of the reflected leaves and branches is not unlike the contrast of the corporeal limitations of living with illness, and the fluidity of the mind and imagination that brings respite.”
Robin Berenholz is a fine artist and photographer who lives with her husband and primary caregiver outside Philadelphia, where she also has a studio. “When I became ill and unable to leave home for extended periods, I lost a link to a fundamental part of myself, as well as a connection to making art. I now take every opportunity to be in nature, whether in my back yard or out in the woods, where I find tremendous solace, healing, and creative inspiration.”
