About the Artwork
“On March 17, 2020, the Monterey County Health Department issued a shelter-in-place order. Now we stay home, of course (and will except for emergencies), but still go for a walk along Monterey Bay (as long as we stay six feet away from other people and their dogs). So far, three days later, Neal and I are both fine, and we’re walking by the bay every day.”
Elaine Whitman lives with her husband, Neal, in Pacific Grove, CA. Both are retired professional educators. Elaine, a photographer, and Neal, a poet, find that the meeting of land and sea inspire both her visual-pictures and his word-pictures. The changing of light from dawn to dusk gives her a focus for photography every time they step out their door.
